Resource Share | Multi-State Licensure

Resource Share | Multi-State Licensure

Telehealth has fundamentally changed where clinical care happens — but licensure law hasn't always kept pace. Today's clinicians are fielding requests from clients who've moved, traveling professionals who want continuity of care, and underserved communities across state lines.

The opportunity to expand your practice is real. So is the risk of practicing out of compliance without realizing it. This workshop cuts through the complexity of multi-state licensure so you can grow your reach with confidence — knowing exactly what's required, what to watch out for, and how to build a practice that's both expansive and airtight.

Facilitated by Christine Suffield a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Florida, and Nevada,

this workshop offers a practical framework for obtaining and maintaining licensure across multiple U.S. states. Participants will learn key differences in licensure requirements, application strategies, legal and ethical considerations, and operational implications for multi-state practice. Emphasis is placed on avoiding common mistakes, and building a compliant, scalable clinical practice.

Through this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three key differences in licensure requirements across U.S. states.

  2. Explain the process for applying for licensure by endorsement vs. examination.

  3. Apply a step-by-step strategy for obtaining licensure in an additional state.

  4. Recognize legal, ethical, and business considerations for practicing across state lines.

We’d love for you to join us for this Resource Share, a Shelterwood Collective series offering practical tools and seasoned perspective to support practitioner development!
