Resource Share | Beyond the Individual Hour : Developing Groups in Private Practice
This workshop is designed for practitioners in private practice, at any stage of their career, who are curious about adding group offerings to their work. Group-based care has the potential to increase accessibility, cultivate connection, and support sustainable mental health for the people we serve, while also bringing balance and vitality to a private practice. Yet many practitioners aren't sure where to start.
In this workshop, participants will explore the benefits of offering groups, frameworks for identifying the right group format for their expertise and community, key structural decisions, and the support systems, from pricing and marketing to documentation and consultation, that help groups get off the ground and thrive.
Participants will leave with a clearer sense of what is possible, practical tools for moving forward, and greater confidence in their capacity to bring group-based care into their practice.
Through this workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify at least three clinical, ethical, and practical considerations involved in developing and structuring a therapy group in a private practice setting, including group type, screening processes, and informed consent.
Evaluate the fit between their clinical expertise, lived experience, and market need in order to determine an appropriate group offering for their practice context.
Describe the key support systems necessary for launching and sustaining a therapy group in private practice, including pricing, marketing, documentation, and consultation.

Virg Augoustatos is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Registered Drama Therapist (P-RDT) based in Seattle, WA. They are the founder of Prismatic Arts Counseling, a private practice specializing in grief, trauma, and expressive arts therapy. They bring extensive experience facilitating groups across clinical and community settings, and currently offer the Good Grief Group, a six-week expressive arts grief group in Seattle, alongside ongoing community grief circles. Virg is passionate about the power of group-based care to increase accessibility, cultivate connection, and support sustainable healing.
