Individual creative exploration in parallel with others will allow participants to “play with” life’s questions of the moment, while being guided with a gentle structure to support renewal and replenishment of heart, mind, body, and spirit.
Open to all Shelterwood members, this free exploration will be facilitated by Shelterwood member Pamela Krueger, who learned Open Studio Process from its founder Pat Allen (see “Art is a Way of Knowing”) and led it for over 5 years on a biweekly basis at a local cancer nonprofit. She is bringing it to Shelterwood for its potential to give nourishment to healing practitioners responding to the ways their ways of giving to others sometimes result in needing to fill their own inner resource well to continue their work with enlivenment.
Container
This will be in-person to allow for access to art supplies and embodied presence with each other.
Each session will offer 2-3 different ways of engaging with materials and involve a consistent and simple process supporting free exploration of each participant’s creative impulses.
The flow of the process includes consistent components making it most useful to be present for the entire two hours, especially important the first time one joins. The flow will include an overview of the process, engagement with an image to open up one’s creative senses, a short guided meditation, intention-setting, silent creative exploration, witnessing one’s experience, and optional sharing without evaluation from others.
Exchange
There is no fee for this offering, however, voluntary donations to help replenishment art supplies is welcome.
Pamela Krueger
I’m Pamela, an expressive arts therapist and an artist to life’s movement in a variety of forms. I am offering this event to allow for the possibilities of creative exploration to be a natural part of the rhythms of life that hold space for healing for others. While my creative home has often been creative writing and poetry in particular, as well as authentic movement and dance forms, I love exploring, and offering invitations to others to explore, the innate creative genius that exists for each of us when we can relax the knowing and step into curiosity and wonder. I intend to hold the space with this in mind.
