Resource Share | Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy: An Introduction for Practitioners
We’d love for you to join us for our next Resource Share, a Shelterwood Collective series offering practical tools and seasoned perspective to support practitioner development.
This workshop offers a grounded introduction to Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for practitioners curious about this emerging modality. We’ll cover the clinical basics: what the medicine is, how it works in the brain, and what it treats, along with practical considerations like dosing types, remote vs. in-person administration, and how to partner with a prescribing provider. We’ll address accessibility, including how group dosing models can help lower cost barriers to care.
Through this workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe how ketamine affects the brain (e.g. neuroplasticity, default mode network suppression) and its clinical applications for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD
Identify contraindications and the distinction between psycholytic vs. psychedelic dosing
Describe the Preparation, Dosing, and Integration framework, and explain how remote and in-person KAP dosing sessions are administered and monitored, as well as how to partner with a prescribing organization or provider
Recognize how cost and accessibility considerations shape equitable access to KAP
