The Clinic
Deepen your practice at The Clinic, a series of specialized workshops designed to hone your skills and capacity as a practitioner. Inspired by the focused training methods used in sports clinics, these sessions are facilitated by seasoned practitioners who offer teaching on their modality of focus, bring these concepts to life with a live session with a client volunteer, and hold space for integration through honest discussion and group consultation.
Each clinic will focus on an approach to the work, providing you with advanced techniques, practical tools, and new perspectives to integrate into your work. Whether you’re looking to refine your approach, deepen your capacity to drop into the human experience of this work, or renew your imagination for what’s possible in the in between, these clinics offer a unique opportunity for growth and connection.
EMDR, Demystified: An Experiential Introduction to EMDR Therapy
This Clinic is facilitated by Angelica De Anda, LMHC (Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training). She'll introduce Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a somatic and neurologically-informed approach to processing trauma and distressing life experiences.Through live teaching, a demonstration with a client volunteer, and group discussion, participants will get an inside look at what an EMDR session actually looks and feels like, and see how the theory moves from concept to practice in real time.
This session is for therapists and healing practitioners across modalities: whether you're new to EMDR and curious about how it works, considering formal training, or wanting a clearer sense of when it's the right referral for someone in your care.
Cultural competence and diversity are woven into this clinic's teaching: we will discuss how EMDR's protocols can be adapted for clients of different cultural backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, including attention to how trauma, memory, and healing are understood differently across communities, and how practitioners can hold this awareness when offering this therapy.
Through this workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe the core theoretical model underlying EMDR therapy (Adaptive Information Processing) and its eight-phase structure
Identify how bilateral stimulation is used to support the nervous system's natural capacity to process and integrate distressing experiences
Recognize considerations for adapting EMDR therapy across cultural backgrounds and lived experiences
Observe and reflect on the practical application of these concepts through a live demonstration with a client volunteer
Recognize signs and situations in which referring a client to EMDR therapy may be appropriate

she/hers/ella
Angelica De Anda is facilitating this clinic because she is passionate about sharing EMDR with those who are curious about the modality, and deeply cares about deepening therapist skill and confidence with this work. Her practice is rooted in a holistic, trauma-informed, culturally responsive framework - drawing from EMDR, polyvagal theory, and parts work (IFS). She loves weaving these practices into both her therapy work and the trainings and consultation she offers fellow clinicians.
