Psychotherapist, Somatic/Yoga Therapist
(she/her)
While each of us come from different backgrounds and are on our own journeys, I believe that we all share a few fundamental human longings in common: the desire for authentic connection with ourselves and with others, physical and emotional health and wellness, and a life of purpose and meaning. Too often, these longings go unmet. We lose sight of who we are and the life we imagined can feel like sand running through our fingers as the days drift by. We live our lives feeling disconnected- from ourselves and from others. Past hurts and traumas hold us back from living the life we want and deserve.
My approach to therapy is rooted in my belief that the body holds an infinite amount of wisdom-you have everything you need within you to heal and thrive. I am passionate about using experiential, somatic approaches with my clients and have witnessed profound healing occur when all parts of Self are integrated. I utilize a variety of practices including felt-sensing, mindfulness, breathwork, movement and meditation alongside talk therapy to address deeply-held, "stuck" trauma from the inside out.
For many, talk therapy alone has not been enough to fully heal from deep wounding and trauma. I work with those living with anxiety/mood/personality disorders who feel like talk therapy and DBT have been helpful, but have only taken them so far. Using a variety of somatic practices, we will address and uncover the root of trauma held within your body. By realigning the separation between the body-mind, we can integrate the fragmentation of Self that resulted from trauma so that you can return to wholeness.
As a person living with Borderline Personality Disorder, I truly understand the challenges it presents. I was turned away by many therapists when disclosing my BPD, which prompted me to become a therapist myself! I graduated from Bastyr University with my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and have worked in outpatient care, partial hospitalization and residential treatment centers with those struggling with anxiety, mood and eating disorders as a somatic/yoga therapist.
My role as a therapist is to truly human with you. To witness, hold space for, and acknowledge your lived, human experience. I will hold a safe, empathetic space for you as we dive deep into your inner murky waters. What might we find beneath the hidden depths?
