The desire for the use of different forms of creativity seem to be surfacing everywhere in therapeutic contexts, but offering creative process work in therapy is not as simple as acquiring art supplies. Expressive arts therapy is person-centered and grounded in deep theoretical roots connected to phenomenology, liberation psychology, sociocultural relational theory, the use of emergence, and an understanding of how different expressive modalities can impact clients. Come to this workshop to experience several creative process examples, along with the related clinical foundations and principles to support them, to gain initial competence in thinking about this kind of approach in therapy.
