Psychotherapist

(she/her)

My therapeutic framework is centered around cultivating an environment where you are seen, heard, and genuinely cared about with an emphasis on collaboration and respect for you as a whole person. My hope is that when you come to therapy you can feel free to express yourself without blame or judgment. I believe a therapist is there to walk alongside you, listening deeply and attuning to you and your needs while also gently inviting you to challenge your perspective when needed.

I am a trauma-informed relational psychotherapist who specializes in expressive arts therapy, meaning I prioritize your safety and autonomy and believe wholeheartedly in the power of creativity for healing and transformation. These therapeutic modalities integrate beautifully because they center you as the expert of your own life and honor your individual healing process. Tapping into your creativity invites you to encounter your inner world in a new way and gain deeper insights into yourself while experiencing the transformative benefits of self-expression. Everyone comes to therapy for their own unique reasons, your goals are always going to be at the forefront of our work together.

Many people are seeking therapy now because they want to understand themselves more deeply. Some have a specific reason for seeking therapeutic support and know what they want to accomplish, while others might be looking for something that is often hard to name. It might feel something like unexplainable loneliness, lingering unease, sadness, overwhelm, or fear and anxiety. Whatever the feelings are, they weigh heavily on your mind and they can often feel like too much to carry on your own. Therapy is a wonderful space for unburdening yourself.

As someone who values empathy, compassion, and collaboration, I feel it is important to create a warm and supportive atmosphere where you are free to feel and express whatever arises at the time of your session while also holding space for depth work and self-reflection. I believe that the bond between therapist and client is the cornerstone of the healing journey, and I work closely with each of my clients to cultivate a compassionate and non-judgmental space where they can feel free to explore their inner selves and grow at their own pace.

I understand how vulnerable and exhausting the process of looking for a therapist can feel, especially because finding someone you feel safe and comfortable working with matters. If you think that might be me, I warmly welcome you to reach out however feels most comfortable to you (Text: 510-609-6880, Email: sarah@sarahkelleycounseling.com, Website consultation inquiry: www.sarahkelleycounseling.com) and I will respond to you most likely the same day or within 24 hours to set up time for a free 15-20 min check-in. I welcome all your questions and sincerely look forward to chatting with you!

A bit about me: I am a licensed mental health counselor associate and hold a Master of Arts in Counseling-Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Multicultural Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy; I have an expressive arts professional certification from the Northwest Creative and Expressive Arts Institute in Seattle. Over the past 15 years I have studied various forms of therapeutic arts and am passionate about continuing my professional training in this field.

I grew up here in the Pacific Northwest and am deeply grateful to call this place home. I feel rejuvenated anytime I am out in nature, and especially enjoy hikes that lead to hidden waterfalls. I also love being cozy at home with a cup of tea and a good book. I have personally experienced immense transformation in my life through my own therapy with wonderful clinicians. This experience continues to give me a tremendous regard for the therapeutic healing process.
