Mental Health Therapist

(they/them)

If mindfulness helps us practice returning to present moment awareness, therapy helps us practice returning to our path.  Therapy gives us the support we need to keep returning home to our self, remember where we’re trying to go, and keep showing up for ourselves in all the different ways.

I welcome neurodiversity and inter-sectionality. I work with individual adults experiencing anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, neurodiversity, gender dysphoria, challenging family dynamics, workplace stress, isolation, burn-out, procrastination, perfectionism, and/or grief about being a human at this moment in time. We are multi-faceted; our mental health is usually impacted by more than one process.

I use a whole-person approach to therapy. I aim to be client led and collaborative, while being informed by evidenced based practices and frameworks. My primary modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT. This modality focuses on how, based on prior experiences, we may have attached significant meanings to daily internal and external cues. We can get to know this inner voice: it really wants to help, but it might have picked up some less useful strategies on the way (feeding shame, guilt, social anxiety, fatigue, grief, rage). Through therapy, you might become more acquainted with particular feelings, explore some core fears, identify some behavioral loops, find some super powers, and hopefully identify some adaptive strategies to get you closer to the life you want to be living.

As a transgender, non-binary, and persistently gender non-conforming person, I have leaned on self-actualization as a survival skill. That doesn’t make me an expert, but it has lit a fire for exploring the existential pain of being human and the existential joy of making our life our own. I aspire to offer that sacred, exploratory space to you.
