Angela Amos
Counseling Resident
(she/her)
Born in the PNW rainforest, Angie has a deep love for the natural world. Its beauty informs her approach to her work as an artist as well as a blossoming therapist. Angie has multifaceted experience working with neurodiverse children and teens as well as with older adults who are experiencing grief, chronic illness/pain, or who are seeking a neurodiverse affirming approach to therapy.
She believes that consistency and trauma-informed ritual are cornerstones of developing a regulated nervous system and a typical session hopes to provide an environment that leads to healthy attachment outcomes. Leaning heavily into a person-centered and relational approach to art therapy, she strives to make her office more like a cozy art studio where you can create and share in comfort. Creating art is not required, but merely invited, as Angie uses her intuition to create individualized art exercises that can enliven your therapeutic experience.
She is a certified herbalist, former bodyworker, and abstract artist/performer, all experiences which inform an eclectic approach to art therapy. From generational poverty with a history of chronic pain, she can provide a lived-experience perspective on navigating hospital systems and housing instability. A long-time activist and graduate student at Antioch University Seattle, she is committed to practicing an anti-oppressive, decolonial approach to therapy and strives to create an atmosphere that welcomes nuanced conversation about diversity, equity and inclusion as well as LGBTQIA+ related topics.
