Porter Woody, BA, MA
Counseling Resident
(they/them)
I'm a queer, mixed, black, nonbinary clinician with working class roots, dedicated to equitable and tender care that makes you feel seen, heard, and wholeheartedly accepted. I collaborate with people toward healing and thriving in a world that constantly makes us question our own self-worth and our very right to be here.
My clients are:
People of the global majority
Queer/trans/nonbinary/gender expansive/LGBTQIA+
Have intersectional identities
Are dealing with "quarter- and mid-life crisis"
Those looking to feel more aligned within, given oppressive forces from the outside world
My work is grounded in collaboration and a belief that we all hold deep wisdom and insight into our own healing. My communication style is direct, compassionate, nonjudgemental, and curious. With humor and authenticity, I'm here to guide and support your journey of growing, expanding, and becoming.
As a longtime Washington resident, I am passionate about melting the "Seattle freeze" and strive for community minded and humble ways of interacting across difference. We'll address issues of identity and transformation in the face of racialized capitalism and white supremacy. I attended the University of WA and received a Bachelor's degree in race, ethnicity, and gender studies. Currently, finishing up my Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree with Antioch University with a focus in multiculturalism.
For over 20 years, I've worked with people in healthcare, customer service, and in the nonprofit industry. I keep finding that the only way out is through. So whether you're new to therapy or want to continue to deepen in your personal work, I'm here for it - reach out to connect.
