Psychotherapist

(she/her)

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years dancing professionally and teaching people of all ages and abilities. That work shaped my deep appreciation for spaces where people feel safe to express themselves in their vulnerability. Over the 25 years I have been dancing, I found myself drawn to the ways movement can help people externalize what’s hard to put into words and to get in touch parts of oneself that might feel lost or buried in shame from self or others (strength, power, anger, grace, softness, sharpness, fluidity, messiness, sensuality etc.). That interest ultimately led me to pursue a degree in therapy, and it continues to inform how I understand both healing and my relationship to dance today.

In my sessions, I use evidence-based approaches while offering moments of hope in a collaborative manner to tackle my clients’ presenting issues. I enjoy incorporating somatic awareness, breathing exercises, attachment theory and IFS into my session when appropriate. Clients describe me as attuned, compassionate, energizing and passionate. I am always pleased to see a blend of approaches in therapy encourage movement toward change and growth in the lives of those who come to see me.

I enjoy working with clients who take an active role in their self-reflection. I find great pleasure in working with women, queer people, creative types and those who are unpacking religious and patriarchal structures. I feel particularly well-matched for clients who are entering therapy experiencing isolation and shame about their relational dynamics. Lastly, through a feminist and multicultural lens I am interested in exploring identity, power, relationships, and how larger systems shape our experiences for all of us.

If I sound like I might be a good fit for you, it would be an honor to work with you.

I spent a long time trying to find my center until I looked closely at it one night & found it had wheels and moved easily in the slightest breeze.
So now I spend less time sitting and more time sailing.
