Child and Family Therapist

(she/her)

Therapy can be a sheltered place to explore, heal, grow and transform. I provide support for children, teens, young adults and families through a trauma-informed lens on identity, curiosity around our response patterns, history of medical issues and sensory regulation needs. Through Expressive Arts and Play Therapy some things we can explore include general anxiety, difficulties with transition, perfectionistic thinking, enhancing parent-child relationship, anger and aggression, depression, and restoring from traumatic experiences to access regulation and safety.

The act of playing is a process of integration. Play possesses properties of non-linearity, which touches upon characteristics of chaos theory – of disorganization to reach stability/organization. From a biopsychosocial perspective, play occupies a unique space between our internal experiences and external realities. In co-regulation through therapeutic play, we can discover greater self-understanding, be empowered in how we choose to be with one another, and access breakthroughs and change.

About me:

I am a Masters Level Therapist, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH61453539). I identify as a creatively oriented, first generation Taiwanese American, cis-gendered woman on a neurodivergent spectrum. I have worked in a group play therapy practice, Seattle Play Therapy, where I've facilitated playgroups, conducted school observations, coordinated wraparound care with schools and specialists, offered caregiver consultation in addition to individual and family therapy work. I am engaged in on-going learning and am in regular consultation with supervisors and peers. I have over a decade of experience in visual communication and design thinking which informs my approach to Expressive Arts Therapy. I seek to honor you and/or your child's unique identity, regardless of culture, faith, background, or orientation as we begin to make meaning in being with self and with one another in relational well-being. I look forward to playing and making meaning together!

Teach children to remain connected first to their experience before interpretation and you raise a generation of adults who are anchored in their sense of Self, who are able to explore the terrains of life and relationships accompanied with a feeling of wholeness, groundedness, security, resilience and confidence.
