Psychotherapist

(she/her)

I didn't find therapy in a straight line. I came to it through conflict zones.

For fifteen years I have been a filmmaker and film educator, making socially engaged work across countries and languages. I am drawn, again and again, to people whose voices are usually pushed to the edges of the frame, and to the question of what it truly costs to tell a story honestly.

That question became impossible to set aside while filming in a disputed territory, sitting with people as they revisited some of the heaviest experiences a person can carry. I watched them reach for words for things that had no words.

I hold a Master and Doctorate in Film Theory, a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking, and degrees in Art History and Critical Theory, alongside my latest Master training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I came to this field through a long education in how stories are made, how they shape us, and what it means to tell the truth in them. That formation is not separate from my clinical work. It is the foundation of it.

My own life shapes how I sit with people. Born in Communist Poland, I grew up amid the country’s transition to democracy. I then moved to London, where I lived for over twenty years, taught art and film at universities and non-profits, while making work across borders and in multiple languages. Migration, code-switching, cultural adaptation – the quiet grief of belonging to more than one world and fully to none – are therefore not abstractions to me. They are part of how I listen, and part of why people who live between worlds often feel at home in my care.

I practice in English and Polish. I am trained in multicultural and social justice counseling and bring a culturally humble, intersectional lens to everyone I work with.

When I am not in the therapy room, you will likely find me in the ocean on a surfboard, reading with my cat nearby, playing bass guitar, or working on my next film.
