Psychotherapist

(she/her)

I enjoy working with people within the LGBTQ+ community, specifically people in early adulthood. I love working with first generation Americans and learning about the experiences growing up as a third culture kid. My ideal client is someone seeking support around their experiences, identity, and where they see themselves in the world, a common theme among younger LGBTQ adults. I love working with clients who feel in conflict or "out of step" with the world, as I strongly believe pressure to conform and "fit in" are often ways in which marginalized experiences are devalued.

Lately I've been enjoying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with my clients. I provide an approach to help orient my clients closer to their values. I pride myself on accepting clients where ever they are in life, and valuing each person's authority on their own experience. Where ever you are at in life, I am called to meet you there. I enjoy fostering practical, values-based tools to help my clients navigate the stressors and challenges of life.

I understand how hard life can get, trust me! I’ve been there! As a transgender woman I am familiar with navigating a handful of struggles. Prior to completing my Master’s at Portland State University, I worked with youth in the streets of Portland experiencing critical levels of homelessness. These personal and professional experiences lead me to pursue a career in counseling with the goal of serving marginalized populations. Taking steps to approach your mental health is scary and uncomfortable. Sorting through the hurdles of finding a therapist isn't like finding a plumber or mechanic, it's messy and personal finding a professional you feel comfortable with. I hope to help you along this path in whatever way leads you to healing!
