Nafessa Kassim, LSWAIC, MSW, MPH
Integrative Psychotherapist
(she/her)
I work primarily with women who are ready to reconnect with themselves and live more authentically. So many of the women I see have spent years being molded into who the world asked them to be, and they arrive feeling anxious, stretched thin, or quietly disconnected from their own worth. Together, we tend to the roots of anxiety and trauma, move beyond perfectionism, and rebuild relationships that feel meaningful, including the one you have with yourself.
I believe vulnerability is a superpower. My work is integrative and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that the patterns we struggle with today are often the ways we once learned to survive. Drawing on Internal Family Systems (Informed), attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic tools like breathwork, with EMDR training underway, we gently connect the roots of your past to your present, creating clarity on how yesterday shapes today. Working with me tends to feel like a safe, deeply empathetic space where you can explore every part of who you are without judgment, and still laugh, breathe, and feel completely free to be yourself.
As a first-generation daughter of immigrants and someone in an interracial and interfaith relationship, I bring a firsthand understanding of the complexities that live at the intersections of identity.
My earlier career in corporate wellness gives me a particular lens for professional stress, burnout, and the pressures carried by high achievers.
Approach: My practice is inherently trauma-informed, often utilizing somatic techniques to help you reconnect with your body. Grounded in neuroscience, my approach recognizes that anxiety and old patterns live in the nervous system, not just the mind. I integrate practical, neuroscience-based tools such as mindfulness and breathwork to help you regulate your nervous system, calm the stress response, and stay present in the moment.
Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (Informed), Mindfulness, EMDR (in training), and Trauma-Informed.

What makes me Human?
My love of Bollywood music and that you can find me breaking out in dance randomly. I have incredibly delayed reactions to jokes. I have learned many coping mechanisms to support my life, and don’t always use them. I like to snack on Parsley - which is why my dog is named Parsley.
