Asia Black, MA, LMFTA
Therapist for Individuals, Couples, Children/Teens, and Families
(she/her)
Sometimes life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from ourselves and the people we care about most. Therapy offers a place to pause and reflect, so that we may move towards greater clarity, connection, and healing. I strive to offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can show up authentically and feel supported in the growth you want to create. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in practical, evidence-based care. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and other systemic therapies to guide you in exploring and unraveling the diverse array of life factors, past and present, that interconnect and influence your overall well-being.
I have experience supporting those with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship concerns, identity exploration, and intimacy concerns. I work with individuals, couples, children, and families, and I especially value helping people strengthen connection, navigate conflict, and move through painful or stuck patterns with greater insight and resilience. My style is gentle, genuine, and supportive, while also being direct when needed, and I often use humor to help create moments of lightness and connection in the therapy process.
My background includes early childhood development, teaching, case management, community mental health, and behavioral support services, which has also given me experience working with neurodiversity, caregiver burnout, and behavioral and emotional needs. Living abroad, traveling extensively, and teaching English in Spain broadened my worldview and deepened my respect for the diversity of the human experience. Outside of therapy, I love nature, exploring the city, and continuing to learn.
